Scooter has just heard that the ORV Task Force has had a great success in Denton Township. Soon ORVs can legally drive from the Lodge to the trail heads. They will no longer have to be trailer'd right to the trail head. Scooter can't wait to go on his first ORV ride from the Lodge. Wowwee! What a year; hanging out with Captain Ron on his jobs, at the beach and in front of the fireplace. Got to meet lots of new buddies and see some of my ole favorites like Tikka, Rosey, and Katie. Please keep coming up to visit.

Can you dig this? Lorrie set me up a web store with my picture on some cool gift items like shirts, coffee cups, mouse pads, note cards, etc. This extra money will go towards maintaining the Lodge. It's over 80-years old and needs lots of tlc like me.

So c'mon up for some holiday fun or just relaxing too.

End of 2006 Update

Scooter has been ssooooo lonely. Only a very few of his buddies came up this fall. But he had fun with the folks that did come up.

Scooter's buddy and Lodge loyal guest Randy Calhoun came for a couple nights but ended staying a week!! He even helped out decorating and even bought a few more holiday decorations for the lobby. He kept the fire stoked up for Scooter too. If you get bored around here, they put you to work!

Only one family made it for their annual holiday reunion. The power went out in the whole neighborhood but Lorrie ran to the store before it closed to get some more flashlights and candles. Everybody booed when the lights came back on. This family really knows how to have fun in a bad situation.

Scooter was sad too that a nice couple couldn't have their wedding here. He was really looking forward to seeing the two families meet each other and make some new buddies. But maybe they can have a vacation or anniversary here.

Scooter was happy to have a surprise visit from the biker dudes and a dudette that get their bikes blessed here. They had a meeting to make plans for the upcoming year and will now have 2 annual "meetings" at the Lodge. This is one gang that has know how to have good fun at the Lodge.

Maybe you know somebody that can have a reunion or holiday party at the Lodge? Or C'mon up yourself and ring in the New Year!!

Fall 2006 Update

Scooter was sssoooo glad to see a lot of his old buddies this summer and hopes he doesn't have to wait a whole year to see them again. There's lots of fun in the fall, pretty leaf colors and warm fireplace to snuggle by. This is a great time of the year to visit without the seasonal crowds. And off-season rates are in place so its a lot cheaper to come up. Captain Ron's been stacking wood to keep the fireplace stoked, and Scooter's got lots of blankets to share, so c'mon up.

Scooter made lots of new buddies this year too. One day he had 8 other doggies visiting! Plus he made friends with a bunny, ferrets, a cat, ducks by the lake, and some birds and a squirrel that Lorrie rescued. He hopes to see his new buddies again soon too.

Scooter is really appreciative of all the nice comments in the guest book that people wrote, the cards and pictures too.

June 2006 Update

Scooter has been enjoying the water, boating and jet skiing! He's starting to see some of his regular summer buddies coming up. The Kids Games are started and Snack Shack are open too. Scooter helped judge a sand castle contest, treasure hunting, and watched Anthony's magic show. He likes having hot dogs and nachos from the Snack Shack on the beach with his buddies.

Scooter has met some new friends too this June. The Lodge hosted a wedding, a Tip-Up Town appreciation luncheon, a cheerleading camp and a family reunion. Maybe you can have your event here.

Scooter hopes you got your reservation in for this summer. It's been real busy already. He is glad that the higher gas prices are not keeping any of his buddies from coming up. And Scooter wants someone at the Lodge to catch Big Wally the Walleye to win up to $25,000!

April 2006 Update

Scooter is glad spring has sprung on Houghton Lake. He would like to thank everyone that came to visit him during the off-season to keep him snuggley. It sure makes a big smile if he doesn't have to wait a whole year in between visits. And helps dad pay the bills too!

As you can see, Scooter is anxious to enjoy the lake. The pontoons have all been checked and are ready to cruise the bay and the canals. After soaking up some sun on the sandy beach, he's seen some spectacular early spring sunsets right from the dock too.

Scooter wants you to know that fishing season is early this year and starts this weekend (April 29th, 2006). He's been checking the canals daily for the crappie to come in. The other fish are getting hungry now too. But even just getting a line wet is fun.

Scooter was worried that gas prices would keep some of his buddies from coming up. But Ron told him East Bay Lodge is less than a tank from Detroit or Grand Rapids and that he was worth the ride. He is looking forward to your visit.

aaawwww... Scooter is bummed that the trails are in poor condition. But the lake is still frozen so he hopes to still have some buddies come up for a visit.
